Counselling/Psychotherapy - A Therapeutic Partnership

People who seek counselling/psychotherapy do so because they usually have some deeply troubling issues. These issues are usually, but not always, associated with loss in one form or another, such as bereavement, job loss, relationship loss, loss of status, loss of self-esteem, and so on. We all experience some or all of these issues in our lives and long for someone to talk to. Sometimes there is no-one to talk to, or if there is, we may fear they may not understand, or judge us in some way so we bottle up our problems. This in itself can cause stress, which research has shown, can lead to depression and physical illness.

Just to have someone who will really listen to us, perhaps for the first time, without judgement or telling us what to do, can be enormously therapeutic in itself.

To help you I draw on a number of counselling therapies as appropriate and create a safe and caring environment in which you can feel safe and listened to. I do not judge you or tell you what to do but aim to help you to rise above whatever is troubling you so that you can have a clearer perspective.

I achieve helping you to rise above whatever is troubling you by taking you further than what is offered with the average counselling session. I do this by, in addition to counselling, using hypnotherapy to turn your negative thoughts and feelings into positive ones, restoring confidence and self esteem, and mostly giving you a clearer perspective and restoring hope for the future. This is very effective and greatly reduces the number of sessions needed. 1-3 sessions are sufficient in most cases.

This unique method of working has made my counselling/psychotherapy practice one of the most successful in the Newcastle area.
